SPOT (Steamless Palm Oil Technology) is a next-generation palm oil processing innovation that replaces the century-old steam-based wet process.

Why SPOT Matters

Indonesia’s palm oil industry faces several major challenges:

Extremely high carbon emissions

Traditional boilers and steam-based processing generate ±1.3 tons of CO₂ for every ton of CPO.

Each ton of palm oil produces ±3 m³ of POME, releasing methane that is 21 times more harmful than CO₂.

Over 40% of plantations are managed by smallholders who have limited bargaining power and limited access to modern technology.

The wet processing method used for a century no longer meets today’s environmental or global sustainability standards.

How SPOT Works

1. Fruit Detaching

Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) are separated mechanically without steam.

2. Fruit Cleaning

Fruits are cleaned to maximize product purity.

3. Hot Air Drying

Fruits are dried using a hot-air system — no steam, no boiler, no water.

4. Mesocarp Separation (Demesocarper)

The mesocarp is efficiently separated from the nut.

5. PMO Extraction & Purification

Mesocarp is pressed into Palm Mesocarp Oil (PMO) and then purified.

DPMO → RPMO

PMO can be further processed into Re-esterified Palm Mesocarp Oil (RPMO) — a healthier, premium next-generation palm oil.

PaMER — Low-Emission Palm Oil Mill

PaMER is the industrial-scale implementation of SPOT:
modular, low-emission palm oil mill designed to be built closer to plantations and smallholder communities.
