Research and Policy Synergy: Agro Investama Group Attends FGD with PR-EIJP BRIN to Discuss SPOT Green Technology Adoption

Supporting palm oil downstreaming and sustainable energy, Agro Investama Group actively participated in a research Focus Group Discussion (FGD) initiated by the Center for Industrial, Service, and Trade Economics Research (PR-EIJP) of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). Centered around the topic “Palm Oil Downstreaming and Sustainable Energy: Investment Policies Encouraging the Adoption of Seamless Palm Oil Technology (SPOT)”, this strategic meeting was convened to formulate future policy directions for the national palm oil industry.

1. Discussion Focus and Policy Scope

Based on the official PR-EIJP BRIN research document dated September 30, 2026, this FGD session was designed to thoroughly review crucial aspects of attracting private investment within the agro-industrial sector. Key discussion areas included:

  • Incentive Policy Effectiveness: Analyzing optimal fiscal and non-fiscal incentive instruments to draw private investment into palm oil downstreaming, specifically via the adoption of Seamless Palm Oil Technology (SPOT) green technology.
  • Investment Impact Evaluation: Assessing how private capital allocation can elevate product value addition, boost energy efficiency, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions across the palm oil sector.
  • Key Factor Identification: Mapping core drivers and barriers concerning new technology adoption and investments in national priority sectors.

2. Engaging Cross-Sector Strategic Stakeholders

Bringing together regional and national entities, the FGD ensured comprehensive policy formulation. According to the official research invitation list, attendees from Lebak Regency, Banten Province, featured:

  • Regional Government Elements: Assistant II for Economic and Development, Agriculture Office, Cooperatives and SMEs Office, Industry and Trade Office, Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda), One-Stop Integrated Investment and Licensing Services Office (DPMPTSP), Environmental Office, Transportation Office, and the Land Office of Lebak Regency.
  • Farmer Associations & Industry Bodies: Representatives from the Primary Nucleus Palm Oil Farmers Association (ASPEKPIR) of Banten, APKASINDO Banten, GAPKI Banten, and GPPI Banten.
  • Corporations and Chambers of Commerce: PTPN Regional 3 (ex-PTPN VII) Banten, the President Director of Agro Investama Group, alongside KADIN Banten Province and KADIN Lebak Regency.

3. Advancing Sustainable Palm Oil via SPOT Technology

Through this collaborative forum, the deployment of Seamless Palm Oil Technology (SPOT) was spotlighted as a tangible model of how green technology (greentech) tackles energy efficiency and emission reduction challenges without compromising upstream productivity.

By uniting scientific research from BRIN, government policy backing, and active industry participation from entities like Agro Investama Group, the initiative aims to yield robust policy recommendations—steering Indonesia’s palm oil sector toward a clean, self-reliant, and globally competitive downstream era.
